EOTech holographic sight?

I have a Bushmaster XM15 E2S with a holographic sight. I usually shoot it at 50 - 75 yard distances. I just got it sighted in too and I probably get 2-4 inch groups. This is a stupid question but I put the dot in the middle of the reticle, right on top of the front iron sight correct? Thanks.
