Can you reccomend good soulful/bluesy/folk rock musc artists?

I like that song " gimmie one reason to stay here.." by Tracy Chapman...I want to find other atrtists that sing similiar music...I love the soulful sound, but not too oldies sounding...any good recoommendations?
