My dog started with diareia last thursday.now has mucus in stool and bright red blood.is there anything i can?

he doesn't act sick now but has had the shakes and then diareia.have cut out water and gave him cooled scalded milk.also friend said to givr him half teaspoon of pure pumpkin.cant afford to take him to vet and just want him to get better
