What does this song mean?

In an interview with MTV the lead singer said the concept of the song is about the paitent who dies of cancer at an early age. Death comes in the form of your most powerful memory and for the patient that memory is a parade he went to with his father. For the video he even dyed his hair blonde to look more like a patient.
