Elmer's Glue + hair = spikes?

Honestly it's not that good, when it dries it gets faded. You can buy actual glue for your hair at the salon that works really well. You can also buy pomade at that drug store for cheaper (if that's why you're wanting to use elmer's glue). Pomade holds up really well, but it makes your hair very greasy.
